What should you actually spend on marketing?

Most quotes start with a package. This starts with the customers you want and works backwards to the budget that gets you there — including whether the maths actually works.

Your business

The last two prefill from your business type. Change them if you know your real numbers — once you do, switching type will not overwrite them.

How this works

Marketing budgets are usually quoted the wrong way round. An agency names a package, you decide whether you can afford it, and nobody checks whether the number of customers it can realistically deliver is worth the money. This planner runs the arithmetic in the order that actually matters.

  1. Customers to enquiries. Your target divided by your conversion rate gives the number of enquiries the campaign has to produce.
  2. Enquiries to spend. Multiply by your cost per enquiry and you have the monthly ad budget — the money that goes to Google or Meta, not to us.
  3. The sanity check. Divide spend by customers to get acquisition cost, and compare it to what a customer is worth. Below 3× there is rarely room left for your own costs.
  4. The floor. Daily spend is checked against the platform minimum. Under it, no amount of skill makes the campaign work, so the planner says so instead of quoting you a package.

The output is deliberately capable of telling you not to spend. If the numbers do not work, the useful answer is the one that says so before the money is gone. See the full Jaipur pricing breakdown for what the market charges, or Growth Studio for our own published rates.

Questions about the planner

How much should a small business spend on marketing?

There is no percentage that answers this honestly. The number that matters is what one customer is worth to you and what one costs to acquire. This planner works backwards from your customer target: how many enquiries that needs, what those enquiries cost, and whether the return justifies the spend. A ratio below 3× usually means fixing conversion before spending on ads.

Why does the planner say my budget is below the platform minimum?

Google and Meta campaigns need a floor of daily spend before their algorithms have enough conversion data to optimise. For local lead generation that is roughly ₹300–₹500 a day on Google and ₹200–₹400 a day on Meta. Below the floor you are paying to teach the platform nothing, which is why we flag it rather than take the work.

Is the agency fee included in the total?

Yes — the total shown is ad spend plus our management fee, listed as separate lines so you can see which is which. Ad spend goes directly to Google or Meta from your own account. The fee is what you pay TCC. We never quote one blended number.

Where do the default conversion rates come from?

They are the starting figures we see across live campaigns by business type — around 30% enquiry-to-customer for local services, 20% for professional practices, 2.5% for D2C. They are a starting point, not a promise. If you know your real numbers, type them in; the planner stops overwriting them once you do.

Is anything I enter here stored?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser and nothing is submitted anywhere unless you choose to send the numbers to us on WhatsApp.

Want us to sanity-check your numbers?

Send what the planner gave you and we will tell you whether the target is realistic for your market — and if it is not, what would have to change first.
