Where does your credit score stand — and what is costing you points?
Five questions, no PAN, no OTP. An estimate of your band from the factors the bureaus actually score, with the one fix that recovers the most.
Question 1 of 5
Any EMI or card payment missed in the last two years?
Payment history is roughly a third of the score.
How the score is built
All four Indian bureaus score on a 300–900 scale from the same five inputs. The exact weights are not published, but lenders’ own guides put payment history — whether every EMI and card bill was paid by the due date — at roughly a third. Credit utilisation, the share of your card limits in use on the statement date, carries almost as much. The length of your history, the mix of secured and unsecured credit, and the number of recent applications make up the rest. A missed payment is reported as days past due (DPD); a 90+ DPD, a “settled” or a “written-off” status are the entries that decide most rejections.
For a business, lenders read two things: the promoter's personal score, and — for a company or LLP with loans in its own name — the commercial report and its CIBIL Rank (CMR 1–10). Both are covered in our correction and improvement service.
Frequently asked
Is this my real CIBIL score?+
No. A score can only be pulled from a bureau — TransUnion CIBIL, Experian, Equifax or CRIF High Mark — with your consent. This tool estimates the band your profile is likely to sit in from the five factors the bureaus publish as their inputs, and explains which one is costing you points. Use it to decide what to fix; use the free official report to see the number.
How do I get my credit report free?+
Under RBI rules every credit bureau must give you one free full credit report a year. Go to the bureau's own website — cibil.com, experian.in, equifax.co.in or crifhighmark.com — verify with your PAN and mobile number, and download it. Pull all four: lenders do not all report to every bureau, so the reports differ. Since July 2026 lenders report weekly, so a correction or a payment shows within days.
What score do I need for a business loan?+
Most banks want 700 or above for unsecured business loans and 750+ to price at their best rate. For a proprietorship the lender reads your personal score; for a company or LLP it also reads the CIBIL Rank (CMR) of the business, where 1 is the best and 10 the worst. Below 650, expect a secured product or a co-applicant.
Can a low score be "fixed" quickly?+
Only in one case: when the report is wrong. A loan you closed still showing open, a paid balance still showing due, an account that is not yours — each is disputed with the bureau, the lender has to respond within 30 days, and the score moves the moment the entry is corrected. Anyone who promises to "delete" an accurate default for a fee is running a scam; RBI and the bureaus warn against these agents.
What does TCC actually do here?+
Three things, each quoted in writing. A report review: we pull the reports with your consent and mark every line that looks wrong. Correction: we draft and file the disputes with the bureau and chase the lender until the entry changes. Improvement: a written plan — which balances to pay down, which accounts to keep open, when to apply — for a loan you are planning in the next 6 to 12 months.
